MBA, SPHR | Transformational Leadership
For more than 25 years, LaFern Batie has been recognized as a leader who is committed to helping organizations maximize their potential through effective leadership, compelling strategies, excellent execution and creating exceptional experiences. Batie recognizes that in an environment that is often challenging and changing rapidly, it can be difficult to remain energized and enthusiastic. The most effective leaders understand how important it is to have and maintain a solid foundation that ultimately creates an exceptional experience for those with whom they engage. As a leader, your impact is evident from the first encounter with those you serve to the legacy you leave beyond your presence. This interactive presentation will challenge you to think differently about your role as a leader.
Strategic Decision Making
Commander David Sears offers a look inside how the nation’s most elite special operations forces train to make quick and effective decisions in life and death environments. With more than 20 years of tactical and strategic experience, he shares stories about some of our most headline-stealing conflicts (like the first successful prisoner of war rescue since WWII) as he shows audiences how to create a process around decision-making that leads to faster, better decisions. He offers a practical framework: 1) end state – what are the goals, 2) gathering information – beyond the traditional, and 3) test for decisions – is it S.A.F.E. (suitable, acceptable, feasible, and end state). Sears’ presentations are a high energy look into how audiences can apply the best of the Navy SEALs to their own organizations.
The 7 Rules of Admiral Hyman Rickover
Admiral Hyman Rickover is known as the “father of the nuclear navy.” In the early 50’s, he was asked to build his nuclear fleet - but he was cautioned “make it safe as Americans have no tolerance for tragedy.” Over a period of years, he put together seven control measures (the rules of Admiral Rickover) to address problems lying in wait with the goal of preventing a nuclear tragedy. These rules are continuous improvement, quality people, solid supervision, respecting risk, constant and rigorous training, solid auditing and continuous learning. Gordon Graham will explain how these rules apply to every high-risk occupation and provide proven strategies and tactics to help you implement these “rules” into your organization.
